PRISON ISLAND – quarantine and giant turtles

Prison Island Is so called because of its first usage as a prison, which was built in 1893. But in fact it was later used as a quarantine hospital and is nowadays the home to the giant tortoises which were banned from the city of Stone Town. Enjoy a 30 minute boat ride with a view of the Stone Town Skyline, after arriving on Prison Island your guide will teach you the history, introduce you to the giant tortoises, get a chance to see, touch, feed and take pictures of the Aldabra Giant Tortoise.

Nakupenda - the Sandbank Picnic

Nakupenda Beach is all about snorkelling and sunbathing on one of Zanzibar’s most pristine beaches. You’ll sail away with us to the sandbank around the magnificent island of Zanzibar, where you will be able to swim, snorkelling and enjoy a delicious BBQ seafood lunch. Nakupenda simply means “I LOVE YOU” in Swahili. It is the name of an astounding sandbank, the white sands and their alternative sea appear and disappear. This would make you live in the natural reserve that hospitable by its naturalistic and proper pearls of Indian Ocean. Enjoy our seasonal fruits, sand bathing and our Seafood lunch. Relax on the sandbank or discover marine life around the sandbank before riding the motorboat or sailing back to Stone town.

❖ Please do not purchase any large shells or coral from local vendors as it promotes the destruction of our fragile marine ecosystem

❖ This is a boat tour, you might have to wear shoes that are easy to slip in and out and that don’t get damaged by water
