BUTTERFLY CENTER

Welcome to walk among the hundreds free-flying butterflies in the tropical garden of Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, one of the largest butterfly enclosure in East Africa.

The interactive and visual environment offers a pleasant experience for adults and children alike. You can be part of the feeding ritual and if you wish, let the butterflies fly close to your hand. The tour can take 30 to 40 minutes where you can inspect the tiny butterfly eggs, touch and hold the hungry caterpillars and watch them nibble away at the leaves and get close-up view of the life cycle stages of some of the butterflies, starting with their curious cocoons. Zanzibar Butterfly Centre is a popular Zanzibar tourist attraction, the Centre focuses on three areas, (educational visits, conservation and butterfly farming). It’s among the community based tourism attraction whereby revenue generated by visitors provides funds for locals.

JOZANI FOREST

After a further 3 minute drive you arrive at Jozani National Park. During a guided journey through the forest you will quickly learn about the different species of monkeys unique to Zanzibar (and yes, without a thumb). After your forest tour and a short hop to the other side of the national park, there is an opportunity to uncover the magical world of the Zanzibari Mangroves. A walk along the wooden trail and you will see the thousands of crabs at work under the mangroves and if you’re lucky you might even be able to hear the mangroves talking. See for yourself

STONE TOWN

Feel the history in the walls

After arriving in Stone town, your guide will introduce you to all the buildings of interest and famous viewpoints. Stone town and its buildings are full of history and stories of the ancient times when Sultans, Arabs, Europeans and Zanzibaris wrote the history of this beautiful island. You will visit the Anglican Cathedral and the Slave markets, the Palace of the Sultans, Tip Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, Forodhani Park and of course the famous Zanzibar Doors in our narrow streets. We will show you Henna Art and bring you to the fruit and vegetable market. So be ready for a walk through the long history of Zanzibar and its numerous rulers
